Corona Counters with High Thermal Stability
Counters operate in continuous corona discharge. Counters are designed for high neutron radiation in physical and radiometric devices, geophysical equipment neutron-neutron logging (for the study of oil and gas wells), and others. At ambient temperature not higher than 230°C.
Corona discharge - a kind of self-discharge, which occurs when a pronounced inhomogeneity of the electric field in the vicinity of one or both electrodes. In other words, the ionization current occurs before exposure to ionizing radiation of a gas discharge device.
Crown counters have several advantages over proportional:
- High pulse amplitude
- Independence of the pulse amplitude of the supply voltage over a wide range of the supply voltage
- Large and small slope of the plateau of the counting characteristics
- Increased radiation noise immunity.
